Artist statement
This is an interactive drawing. The central figures of a woman and child do not move, just their energetic thread ends. The position of these threads which extend from various body parts create many “sub text” / psychological conversations. With the audience’s participation there comes alive an ever-changing reading of the artwork.
I am curious about the formation of identity, and the relationship of people’s roles with one another and how this effects the development and construction of everyone’s identity. This also creates many complex emotional states and expression of our self.
This work also attempts to open up a new dynamic, creating an active relationship of the work with the viewer. So many possibilities, stories to create and shifting dynamics are made in the simple gesture of moving thread ends.
